Old Snort Schema?
I'm evaluationg the Honeynet Security Console to see if the commercial version would work in our work environment. I have followed the initial directions, but I am running into some issues when I apply the supplied schemas to the MySQL databases. Once I applied the snort.v106.sql schema to my snort database, I cannot startup a snort instance. The error snort is giving me is that the "underlying database seems to be running an older version of the DB schema." I am running Snort 2.6.

I did get a few error when applying both the supplied snort schemas. If necessayr I can reproduce those errors. However, I think the main issue here is that Snort 2.6 does not want to write to this older schema.

I'm not a MySQL guru at all, so any help would be appreciated.

Re: Old Snort Schema?
Honeynet Security Console and the commercial version are really not even close to each other anymore. If you are trying Honeynet Security Console to see ifyou like the commercial software, I would really go right to the commercial software. You can download it without talking to anyone.

As for the schema. just use the schema that comes with Snort 2.6. Honeynet Security Console was released before Snort 2.6 so the schema isn't the latest. Also, Honeynet Security Console won't care if it is schema 106 or 107.

Cheers,
Jeff
