Database migration StandAlone to SMC
I recently upgraded from the IDSPM v2 standalone to SMC, is there a way to move the database of policy's to my SMC desktop from the IDSPMv2? I tried to export the IDSPMv2 policies to wordpad and reinitialize the policy in SMC but all my rules are lost during the move... I really don't want to have to retune all the signatures as I have 9 sensors I am managing.

Re: Database migration StandAlone to SMC
I figured out how to make it work after reading this post. I need to pull the policy off the sensors and import the multiple files and not specifically the single snort.conf that the IDSPMv2 generates. http://www.activeworx.org/Forums/tabid/59/forumid/5/threadid/208/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Re: Database migration StandAlone to SMC
This is currently not an option. What I recommend is to configure your snort sensor to a single directory on the location machine, then copy the policy to this directory and import it with SMC using this same directory. This is something that we are working on and will be an option in SMC v4 when it is released in the coming weeks.

Cheers,
Jeff

Re: Database migration StandAlone to SMC

Activeworx SMC v4 will have a lot of new features... Here are just a few:

  • Overview window has been expanded to a new dashboard.
  • Ability to customize the events that are displayed in each dashboard panel.
  • New geolocation dashboard panels.
  • New user administration built in to the product.
  • New client/server communication using AEF256
  • Support for IDS Policy Manager v2.1.
  • and much more...

Cheers,
Jeff
