Re: IDS policy manager 2.2 : can't add locations

hmm... it works fine for me. When I click on Add Location it adds a new row for the user to fill in Location name and Description. I just installed IDSPM v2.2 on a fresh box and had no problem. Also, there is no extra code in IDSPM to add a new row, it is all done internally to the grid component.

If you could give me any more information about this it might be helpful. such as how many locations you have? can you add a group or does it do nothing also?

Cheers,

Jeff

Re: IDS policy manager 2.2 : can't add locations

Hello Jeff,

When I try to add a new policy, There is "policy settings" and "update locations".

On update locations, I push the button "add update locations" and nothing appears.

I tried with the old policy I used before, there aren't any rows anymore. They have all gone away.

I can create a group, no problem with that.

My pc is a Windows XP SP2 with all updates.

thanks !

When you open your settings form and click on locations. do you see any column headers?

Cheers,

Jeff

Well, I have one location and one group defined but I don't really use them.

I have the exact problem that the original poster has.  When I press the green plus button to add a location then nothing happens.  I ran regmon to see what it's doing in the registry and I see this when I press the green plus:

IDSPM.exe:3748 OpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CTF\KnownClasses NOTFOUND

I don't know if that helps.  I'm running Vista SP1 with UAC, but the other poster was WinXP SP2...

Re: IDS policy manager 2.2 : can't add locations

UPDATE:

If I right-click the icon for IDSPM and choose "Run as Administrator" then I get new settings everywhere and when I go to the add a download location and click the green plus THEN it looks like it adds a record and I can pull-down and choose from my update locations!  So, it has something to do with not running as an administrator.

Hi

I've just installed IDSPM (stand alone) and I have the same kind of problem.

When I create the policy I can add an update location (it's more like a reference to the listing in the settings, isn't it?), however, when the policy is created, if I edit it, I have the same problem  as described in this thread: the location added precedently is gone, and clicking on the "add" button has no effect.

I can't try DanM "solution" as I don't have the administrator rights.

is there any news concerning this issue ?

Re: IDS policy manager 2.2 : can't add locations

This is a limitation of the current backend database. It looks like you have to be administrator to create a database. There isn't much more you can do now, but a new version of IDSPM will be released in the coming months that will have a new database backend and resolve this issue.
